Social security insurance, income tax, labour law?
You will find detailed information about these topics on the following websites:
Jobs on a fee basis require a separate tax number.
As a rule (student visa), you can work 140 full or 280 half days per year without obtaining a permit. This depends on your residence permit; we will be happy to advise you on this. Activities that exceed this limit must be agreed with the Immigration Office and the Employment Agency.
Scientific or student assistant activities can be carried out for an unlimited period of time.
Self-employed activities are only possible in exceptional cases to a limited extent and after consultation with the responsible immigration authority.
Internships also count as regular work - even if the internship is unpaid! Exceptions are so-called compulsory internships, which are a mandatory part of your studies. If it is not a compulsory internship, each day of the internship will be deducted from your 140 or 280-day credit. You will need the approval of the Foreigners' Registration Office and the Employment Agency for an internship if you have already worked for 140 or 280 days.
You have free access to the German labour market.
