Starting Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the nationwide application portal “BAföG Digital” will undergo technical changes. The platform is therefore expected to be unavailable for approximately 2–3 weeks. During this time, no BAföG applications can be uploaded or processed. Access to user accounts will also not be possible. After the changeover, it will be possible to log in via BundID as usual.
Important information
Submit completed applications in good time
- Applications that have been started must be submitted within the application by January 7, 2026, at the latest.
- Drafts that have not been sent will not be transferred during the system changeover.
Upload documents
- Any missing proofs should be uploaded before January 7, 2026.
Observe deadlines
Anyone who needs to submit a first-time application in January should either submit the application before the system is shut down or submit it via BAföG Digital after the system is reactivated (expected at the end of January).
In the meantime, BAföG applications and missing documents can be submitted as follows:
- By mail or via the mailbox
- In person during office hours
In addition, the upload portal of the state of Brandenburg can also be used (funding number required).
