Malaysian food in the canteen at TH Brandenburg

On June 9, 2026, the seventh International Food Day took place in the canteen on the campus of the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences (THB). Following dishes from India, Cameroon, Arab countries, and Indonesia, among others, this year’s International Food Day focused on Malaysia.

The International Food Day was initiated by the Centre for International Relations and Languages at THB and is organized in collaboration with the Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg. Together, both partners bring international perspectives and culinary diversity to the canteen.

Culinary Exchange in the Canteen

The International Food Day shows how diverse campus life can be. International students contribute recipe ideas from their home countries. A dish is selected from these suggestions and cooked together with the canteen team.

This year, the classic Malaysian dish Kari Ayam with Pulut Kuning (chicken curry with yellow rice) was prepared - a creamy, spicy, and aromatic meal featuring hearty chicken curry and mild, coconut-scented yellow sticky rice.

Experiencing and sharing diversity

Cooking together does more than just create new taste experiences. The International Food Day also provides an opportunity for exchange, connection, and insights into other food cultures.

People from more than 80 countries study at TH Brandenburg. The International Food Day highlights this diversity and makes it visible to students, university staff, and guests.

Many thanks to the Malaysian students at THB, the Centre for International Relations and Languages at THB, the canteen team, and everyone involved who made this special day possible.
