A new timetable, new seminars, new faces and sooner or later, almost certainly: hunger. Luckily, our canteens will once again be there throughout the winter semester 2026/27 to provide a satisfying break between classes and events.
Seven canteens across Potsdam, Brandenburg an der Havel and Wildau offer hot meals, snacks, drinks and that much-needed coffee. Sometimes there is only time for a quick bite between the train station and the library; sometimes a short break turns into a leisurely pause. Both have their place.
Information on payment at our canteens:
Employees of the University of Potsdam are asked to present their staff ID card at the checkout. At the canteens in Brandenburg, Wildau, Filmuniversität and Kiepenheuerallee, cashless payment is the only option. Payment can be made using a student ID card, staff ID card or Mensa Card. Further information can be found here.
The overview below shows when the canteen doors are open. Food service ends 30 minutes before closing.

Our canteens will be closed from 21 December 2026 through 1 January 2027.
If you want to know in advance what will be on the plate, you can check our menu online or in the Mensa+ app. The menu for all canteens is available there, making it easy to plan your lunch break or simply find out what your next favourite meal might be. And if there is something you would like to share after your meal, whether praise or suggestions, you can send us your feedback directly.
With that, at least from a culinary perspective, nothing stands in the way of a great start to the winter semester.
